Who Am I?

Your history shapes every part of your life, which is why it's important to look back on the events that led me to where I am today and why I chose to become a teacher. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and started my BEd in September of 2022, but let's look a little deeper into how I became me.

My time in school was rough, to say the least. I was bullied and didn't have the best grades; even though I loved to learn, things just weren’t approached in a way that let me. I spent a lot of time after graduating high school just to find who I wanted to be and what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, I worked odd jobs, mostly in retail, to get by, but I always wanted to do something more. While working as an Education Assistant, I realized that I desperately wanted to be a teacher, something I had thought about pursuing as a 16-year-old but was told I was not a good fit for, the rest as they say, is history. I want to inspire students to learn, to encourage them always to try to do better, and that mistakes are inevitable and vital for growth; not failures that are definitive of who they are.

I am a photographer and artist, and I spend my time outside looking for my next photo or inspiration for painting. I explore the city to find new and interesting views to capture and showcase. I use these times to practice mindfulness to be in the moment and decide if it is something I need to capture.
